How we keep The Youth Matters a respectful and safer place, and what to do if something goes wrong.

The Youth Matters is committed to maintaining a respectful and safer environment for our 18–32 community.

1. Respect Other Users

We do not tolerate:

  • Harassment
  • Bullying
  • Threats
  • Stalking
  • Intimidation
  • Hate-based abuse
  • Sexual harassment
  • Non-consensual sexual conduct
  • Repeated unwanted contact.

2. Protect Your Personal Information

Never share:

  • Government ID documents
  • Passwords
  • OTPs
  • PINs
  • Bank credentials
  • Card details
  • Private residential addresses
  • Private documents
  • Live location
  • Account recovery codes
  • Another person's private information.

3. Online and Offline Meetings

If you decide to meet someone in person:

  • Meet in a public location
  • Tell someone you trust where you are going
  • Consider arranging your own transportation
  • Avoid immediately sharing your home or workplace address
  • Keep control of your phone and personal belongings
  • Leave if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

The Youth Matters does not control private interactions between users outside the platform.

4. Scams and Fraud

Be careful with anyone who:

  • Requests urgent money
  • Promises guaranteed financial returns
  • Requests OTPs or banking credentials
  • Claims to be a The Youth Matters employee and asks for payment
  • Offers suspicious employment or investment opportunities
  • Pressures you to move money through unusual channels
  • Creates an emergency story to obtain financial assistance
  • Requests intimate images and later demands money.

5. Sexual Safety

The following are prohibited:

  • Sexual exploitation
  • Sexual coercion
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Sexual harassment
  • Sexual extortion
  • Sexual threats
  • Content involving minors
  • Any other sexual abuse or exploitation.

6. Report Safety Concerns

Where you can, include:

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates our policies, report it through the available reporting mechanism.

  • Username/profile
  • Description of the issue
  • Relevant message or post
  • Approximate date/time
  • Screenshots or other available information.

Do not place yourself at risk to collect evidence.

7. Immediate Danger

The Youth Matters is not an emergency-response service. If you are in immediate danger or believe someone is at immediate risk, contact the appropriate emergency service or law-enforcement authority. In India, 112 is the national unified emergency number.

8. What We May Do After a Report

Depending on the report, we may:

  • Review the report
  • Remove or restrict content
  • Issue warnings
  • Restrict account functionality
  • Suspend an account
  • Permanently terminate an account
  • Preserve relevant information where legally permitted or required
  • Cooperate with law enforcement or other competent authorities where legally required or permitted.

9. False or Abusive Reports

Reports should be made honestly and in good faith. Deliberately false, malicious or abusive reporting may itself result in action.
